This project was the
modernization of a 70’s kitchen to conform with the rest of the house
which had been remodeled earlier. The client wanted an open plan, with a
great room atmosphere. To create a flow, consideration had to be given
to the ceramic tile which had been installed in the rest of the house,
and was no longer in production. By using a decorative border tile, they
were able to make a transition between the existing tile and the new
island floor plan layout created by the removal of a half-wall. The
result of the remodel was a feeling of increased spaciousness, increased
countertop space, increase in floor availability, and more than
anything…"atmosphere".
