This Timber-Framed Pool
Cabana with a seventy unit Purple Martin house on the roof is on the
north end of Figure Eight Island, a private barrier island on the NC
coast. Built approximately fifty feet from the fast moving inlet waters,
it was designed to complement the turn of the century beach cottage
style of the main house, while functioning as a modern and practical
open air shelter for it’s owners. Custom sawn timbers, re-dried pressure
treated lumber, hand forged gate hardware, cedar shingles, custom
weathervane and Pennsylvania blue stone slate flooring are the materials
that give this functional outbuilding it’s structural and aesthetic
integrity.
