Cadillac Lofts is a
re-development of the former 165,000 square foot parking garage and
downtown Cadillac dealership into 153 loft-style apartments. It
represents an interesting mix of new construction and rehabilitation
planning. Since the building is classified historical, the state and
Federal Historical Review Board was also involved in the decision making
process. Creating three new courtyards to let in light to the very dark
interiors of the building allowed 46 units to have natural light and
private balconies. An added bonus for the complex is that the first
floor of the large courtyard is a natural place for events to take
place. Located in an urban area near the San Antonio public library and
Southwest Craft Center, the Cadillac Lofts has all the advantages of a
downtown location, while retaining the comfort of suburban living with
easy parking and modern amenities.
