This was the creation of
a master bedroom suite, accomplished by enlarging and remodeling the
bedroom to include a sitting area and walk-in closet as well as the
addition of a second sink, whirlpool tub and custom shower in the bath.
County setbacks and an existing septic system limited the size of the
additions that could be constructed. By "stepping" the bath, bedroom and
sitting room additions they were able to provide the desired space while
adhering to the setback requirements and avoiding the septic system.
Stepping the additions away from the existing house structure gave each
space a unique character by creating separate roof structures with
vaulted ceilings and lots of windows to provide natural light and drama
to the space.
