A
simple 3 bedroom home had to be transformed into a large family retreat
capable of accommodating 18 family and friends while maintaining a sense
of warmth and scale for a family of four. Post and beam construction
created a warm and intimate atmosphere while the layout allowed the
owners to be as public or private as they would like. Separate bedroom
wings and a sunken book nook contrast well with the open feel of the
common spaces to result in an elegant, yet informal, island home capable
of entertaining guests with or without shoes.
