This home was the first to receive the Greater Houston Builder’s Association’s Gulf Coast Green Built (GCGB) highest performance level “Emerald” certification for a renovation. The client asked us to examine their home that was flooded by an unusually heavy spring rain. Being environmentally sensitive, they wanted to engage an organization that understood, and was dedicated to green building.
Our response was to recommend they consider renovating their home under the new GCGB Initiative. They eagerly embraced the certification objective, along with important design requirements of a modern kitchen, bath and an open livable floor plan. After our extensive remodeling, performance testing and inspections, this home obtained a 52.1% reduction in energy usage and a 52.2% reduction in water usage. This charming home exceeded our client’s expectations.
The new energy efficient spacious floor plan has a modern look and feel that exceeds all green national building standards. The home features a fabulous butler’s pantry, and additional utility bath, expanded master suite, spacious master closet, and spa-like master bath. The modernized look and functionality of the home are icing on the cake…a definite WOW!
