This pool house was part
of a larger project to remodel an 8,500 square foot home. In order to
accommodate the 17 and 18 foot spans with no internal posts, and to
support a heavy tile roof, a steel superstructure was built on the
ground and lifted into place.
The sandstone paving used on the terraces and around the pool were
extended throughout the pool house to blend it with its surroundings.
A cupola was used to allow the hot summer air to escape and allow proper
air movement.
In the end, the pool house and walls next to it look as if they’ve
always been there as part of the original design of the house.
