An old family home,
formerly a country store, on a hill in Texas was where the grandparents
raised nine children during the Great Depression. Rather than watch it
decay into insignificance, one of the granddaughters decided to salvage
parts of the old home and bring them into her home to decorate the
bedroom of her two younger children. It was an exciting opportunity to
bring this look together using cherished pieces of family history. What
began as a plain, dated bedroom was transformed into a well-presented
package of western farm and ranch culture. The bonus was the ability to
utilize so many materials from the old home-place, an old porch built as
a facade for the closet, the original 4-panel back door of the old house
makes a terrific bedroom door, and items retrieved from the interior of
the old home were used as wall dˇcor. In the end this became a
historical and fun environment for the kids to sleep in and to share
		with friends.
