The clients had some very
creative ideas for a new back yard. The original goal was to have a
pavilion by the pool for gathering, creating shade and having a new
covered fireplace. The second priority was to have a garden shed at the
back of the property for storage. A desire to have the materials flow
effectively was very important. Materials were chosen to match the
existing historic home such as limestone, granite and cedar, which
provided flow as well as defining the new spaces within the property.
Aesthetically, the overall ensemble of pool, terrace, walkways, trellis
and landscaping made for a dramatic change to the original backyard.
