This home, built in the
1920’s, is a unique fusion of art deco, Italianate, and international
styles. The home was lacking a ground floor bedroom, needed a new
kitchen, and was generally in want of some cosmetic work to bring it
back to the luster of its heyday. The master bedroom as designed as a
projecting wing on the front of the house thereby creating an inviting
entry court for guests coming to visit. The kitchen was placed between
the original residence and guest quarters in order to visually address
the existing interior courtyard. The plate glass wood windows were
replaced with steel windows that not only maximize views from inside the
house, but also reestablish the home’s aesthetic roots.
