Housed in an 1837
single-room schoolhouse, the original floor joists of this drafty and
cramped master bathroom sagged 4”. Borrowing space from an adjacent
office for a new curbless shower, and removing a sunken bathtub from a
previous addition for a “make-up” nook, meant multiple and unlevel
flooring systems had to be integrated into on contiguous flow. Its
large, built-in cherry cabinet was turned 90 degrees, requiring a
reface. Transom windows preserve privacy and garden views. Radiant heat
flooring, marble throughout the room and shower, arched doorways and
classic detailing add to this warm and spacious retreat befitting the
home’s era.
