The homeowners envisioned
an outdoor room to be used as a quiet retreat as well as entertainment
both day and night. The client requested a seamless design that would
make this outdoor addition appear to have been part of the original
house. The sloped site was challenging and needed to connect the first
floor and lower level of the early 2000s transitional style home. The
solution was a multi-level plan with inviting vignettes of space, making
easy movement from one area to another. Restaurant quality appliances
and appointments are both artistic and utilitarian in this outdoor
retreat. Cultured stone, slate tiles and granite also contributed to the
architectural artistry.
