Our client is not one
to do things halfway, so this yearlong renovation began with
remodeling all of its 6 bathrooms, 55 windows and 15 patio doors.
Cutting open 96 year-old plaster walls throughout the home to allow
re-piping and electrical wiring through 3 stories was a long and
messy process. Putting it all back together was even more
challenging, matching finishes and re-creating plaster moldings.
Once the invasive
work was completed to upgrade the systems of the home, we sanded,
refinished, and/or painted every square inch of the it.
One could say that
this was a passion project, because any number cruncher would have
torn the house down without a second thought.
This piece of history
has a new lease on life, and will not only be home to our client,
but a retreat for artists from around the globe. Doing business
around the world and having a love for fine art, the owner will be
allowing artists to work freely in and around the home, giving them
plenty of space to create, relax, and feel inspired.
We were honored to
have a part in preserving a home with so much history and character.
