This project shows the
final phase of renovations to a 1950’s expansive cape cod. Due to the
topography of the site, excavation of the soils was required to keep the
deck framing dry and ventilated. During excavation several large conduit
lines limited the use of a backhoe, and much of the excavation was done
by hand. In addition, several large concrete sections were uncovered and
had to be removed. IPE decking material was selected for this project
not only for its beauty, but also because of its durability and dense
qualities. Painstaking measures were taken to limit the visibility of
any fasteners in order to accentuate the sleek look and smooth lines of
the finished mahogany decking. This luxurious deck added the final
classic element to an elegant home.
