This Mid-Century Modern home
was updated to enhance entertaining and family space while preserving
its original aesthetic. A low ceiling, large soffit, and narrow layout
posed design challenges. To complement the era, contrasting wood tones
and natural stone were used. The original fireplace remained, with
custom cherry cabinetry adding function. The soffit was wrapped in
Alder, and a Tongue & Groove Cherry ceiling with Alder beams enhanced
the architecture. A fireplace nook, dry bar, and updated guest room with
a Murphy bed created a cohesive, multi-use space that respects the
home's history.
