When
the owners wanted a new detached office space, the price tag was well
above their budget. So it was suggested that new office space could be
created by expanding an unused bedroom using a small addition. Not only
was this more cost effective, but it allowed the addition to blend more
seamlessly with the existing home than a detached space. The new office
area features high performance windows protecting the interior from a
high-heat southern exposure and offering expansive views of the nearby
mountains. Throughout the office space, an exposed brick wall adds
material consistency with the home’s overall style.
