Evicting the spiders and the
forced air heating system from their unfinished daylight basement
allowed us to transform the clients' dark and slightly creepy basement
into a bright and cheerful, fully wheelchair accessible dwelling unit
(ADU).
The ADU is expected to have many uses over its life,
starting with housing the clients during construction of their new
primary suite, then housing a family member with visual impairment who
needs supervised care, and eventually, as the clients' living quarters,
allowing them to rent out the main house for supplemental income after
retirement with ease of living without stairs.
