The goal of this project
was to add a new front portico that provided functional protection in a
stylistically sensitive manner, but with a little flourish. Keying off
the existing roof forms, period styling, materials and design cues from
the home, a solution emerge. The special touch is in the introduction of
the barrel vault and the finish details. Far from appearing like an
addition, the stylistically sympathetic yet engaging design seems to
both complement and complete the home's facade... as if it was always
meant to be.
