2004 Best Whole House Remodel $200 - $500K
This was a 1940’s
colonial with a nondescript flat façade and low-pitched roofline which
was updated and given new life for this young couple and their family.
The spatial programmatic goals were to create a new entry foyer and
kitchen/eating/family room experience that would become the hub of the
house…the creation of a laundry and mudroom and separate side entry…and
the addition of a new master suite and homework/computer space. The
exterior was transformed by raising the roof pitch and utilizing cedar
shakes. A cupola forms a pinnacle at the ridge, and illuminated at night
marks the entry from afar. The resulting renovation transformation sits
with quiet dignity on the street and provides classic comfortable living
for the family within.
