This
chalet-style log-trimmed house, built in 1909, was abandoned, overgrown
and badly deteriorated. The logs, window surrounds and shingles on the
exterior had rotted or were missing. The house had no footing and was
sitting on dry-stacked brick piers. Interiors had been torn out and
replaced with 1950’s type finishes. Both the exterior and interiors were
restored, with the exception of the kitchen and baths, which were
enlarged and designed in the original character. A stoop at the back of
the house was removed and a dining porch/veranda was designed for
relaxing and entertaining. In addition, an outbuilding was redesigned
into a guesthouse.
