Though empty-nesters, the
customers had a large family of married children and grandchildren, and
a small family room/kitchen to entertain them in. Their dining room was
seldom used, so they knew that the answer was in tearing down the dining
room wall. The kitchen was moved from the middle of the long room to the
east end, which enlarged the dining area, and created a total open
concept space. White shaker cabinetry, a 10-foot island with darker
cabinets, reclaimed wood and a farmhouse sink created a gorgeous
industrial farmhouse kitchen.
