The
goal was to improve the storage and flow of a small kitchen while
staying within the existing envelope of the house. To help do this, an
unwanted soffit was eliminated and the ductwork re-routed so the upper
cabinets could extend to the ceiling. The peninsula was shaped to fit
the space allowing maximum base cabinets and a two-tiered countertop.
The solution also included the robust use of cabinet details and colors
to create a warmth and richness that the homeowners desired.
Multi-functional countertop areas and location of key appliances serve
the entire first floor for better daily use and entertaining guests.
