The homeowners were faced
with a decision: remodel or tear it down. They liked their home-it had
good bones, a faint midcentury vibe, and a beautiful view of Lake
Minnetonka-but it lacked personality. The homeowner (who was also the
architect) decided it was worth saving. A new butterfly roof gave them
the transformation they were looking for. The front entry roof with
trapezoid windows sets the stage; the main butterfly roof dramatically
leads to a wall of windows, which frames a spectacular view of the lake.
