The
goal was to update this historic home for daily family needs. The
project included…a new 3-car attached garage addition, transformation of
a carriage house to an in-law suite, a whole-house utility replacement
and upgrade, and a complete building envelope renovation. Thoughtful
reconfiguration of interior spaces and circulation allowed the
107-year-old residence to be sensitively updated and satisfy the daily
needs and functions of a 21st–century family. Subtle exterior design
details synthesize a century of architecturally unfortunate additions,
while long-term decisions ensure a new beginning for this historic
structure.
