What
began as a modest kitchen renovation with a wall tear out, developed
into a gut makeover of this 100 year-old house. Moving the dining room
up to the front of the house and flipping the kitchen work area lined up
the kitchen and dining rooms and moved the kitchen work area away from a
high-traffic area. To maximize space and achieve a feeling of openness
and light, unnecessary doors were removed along with unneeded walls.
High windows were added to provide light while maintaining privacy. On
the second floor, the entrance to the master bedroom was removed to
allow the expansion of the master bath.
