This 1936 home was
purchased as part of an estate sale, and was in its original condition,
which required significant modernization while maintaining the original
period look. The kitchen was redesigned by eliminating the closets that
were on either side of the entry into the old servant’s quarters. Solid
cherry wide-width flooring was chosen to unify all rooms. Custom beaded
inset cabinets featured polished nickel butt hinges and hand-made glass
knobs and handles. New counter tops were fabricated from white Carrera
marble that included splash guards, and integrated full height panel
over the cooking area and window sill, giving the the kitchen a period
look the clients desired. A hand made fire clay apron front sink was
chosen, along with a polished nickel faucet to further add to the period
styling.
