In order to capture the
expansive city views visible from this hillside residence, the clients
requested adding large floor to ceiling windows, and more natural light.
They also asked for a better flow from the kitchen to the adjacent
family room area. The existing mid-century home influenced the tailored
design, while still utilizing color and natural materials to make the
spaces inviting. Enlarging the existing windows presented a host of
other opportunities to improve the spaces they were in. The rooms now
function seamlessly. And a built-in banquette provides additional
seating and enabled opening the kitchen floorplan even more.
