Because of the location
of the kitchen, the only way in which to open up this confined space,
without destroying the integrity of the home, was to create an appliance
alcove, through a load bearing wall, to use wasted space in the laundry
room.
To add visual expansion, the oven tower at the kitchen’s entrance was
replaced with an unusual design element in the granite Radius Peninsula
which added multiple layers of counter space and flow, while maintaining
a functional separation between the kitchen and breakfast room.
