The objective was to
create something unique in a home with an abundance of rooms, including
a proper home theater. Since show houses can allow a bit of fantasy,
this small spare room in the basement was turned into a Jazz Lounge.
Ironic to most basements, it had three good sized windows and lots of
natural light. A palette of deep teals and blues were used to set the
mood. In addition to the luxurious blue velvet drapes, a pair of zebra
wood cigarette chairs and a sumptuous silk rug of teal, blues and
amethyst were added to enhance the warmth and sexiness, indicative of a
jazz lounge. For the lighting, wall sconces with silk shades were added
to the side wall; spotlights were mounted on the ceiling to highlight
the stage; and two LED light bars were used on the floor at the back of
the stage to enrich the overall ambience.
