The scope of this major
renovation was to convert the existing kitchen into a 2-person kitchen
with two separate food prep and clean-up areas and to open it up to the
adjoining formal dining room and eating area. By utilizing diagonal wall
cabinets and appliances they were able to change the "L" shaped walls
into straight walls and maintain structural integrity. The use of fluted
jambs and colonial casing around the new half-wall opening blends the
new eating area with the tray ceiling into the new kitchen clean-up
area. The new kitchen has an overall free-flow traffic pattern and a
feeling of openness into both the existing family room and a new eating
area. There is plenty of space for two cooks, clean-up and conversation
with no disruption of traffic flow.
