Our Client expressed their desire to be
able to use their existing Billiard room in a more functional way; the
pool table took up the majority of the space and didn’t allow for a
comfortable space to relax and entertain. In addition, the Clients’
formal dining room was used as a living room, but they expressed to us
that they would prefer to use the space in a different way since it was
too small for a living room and they do not have need for a formal
dining room. The Clients also requested an area in which they could
boldly display their collection of art glass.
In response, we removed
the wall between the Billiard room and Formal Dining room to create one
large space. The new open space functions as a place for relaxing,
entertaining, and tasting wine. The new space presented an ideal place
to create an art wall. An existing wall was transformed by incorporating
hand-distressed solid wood floating shelves, high-efficiency lighting
and a wine cabinet built into a cultured-stone wall. Creating truly
floating shelves that do not touch the back wall was challenging, along
with figuring out a way to incorporate lighting into the wood shelves
and the stone columns. Through careful design, planning, and close
coordination with Trade Partners, the production team was able to pull
together these functional and interesting elements. This new wall
displays the Clients’ art glass in a striking and beautiful way.
