The second stage of a renovation project included the design/build of a detached structure that created an extended family gathering place reminiscent of the homeowner's childhood family cabin. "The Barn" includes a garage; an open-raftered space that serves as a workshop and a party room; a rustic refined kitchen; a contemporary bathroom; and a private loft The detached structure almost literally “flies open” to the home and the pool, and is more jazzy and contemporary than the home. By using similar materials on both home and Barn, the effect is striking and unified.
