With
sustainability as a key consideration, the four-story home was renovated
rather than demolished, utilizing a small but effective addition to give
the perception of considerably more space. The team used green building
techniques and materials where practicable. This renovation opened the
house to spectacular views and clarified and enhanced interior and
exterior connections throughout. The spaces were planned specifically to
allow for flexible use over the next couple of generations, while the
children are young (currently) and later allowing for scaling back to
living on fewer floors. The clean and timeless design sense will look
fresh for generations to come.
