This green remodel
includes the complete gutting of the existing structure and the addition
of about 1,400 square feet. The home was designed and remodeled to be
green while also maintaining its marketability for resale.
They focused on six areas for improving the home: foam insulation, high
efficiency air conditioning, solar water heating, energy star
appliances, high efficiency lighting, and a well-planned landscape.
Overall, the home has performed well during the past year, and the
energy and water bills have proving the efficiency of the home. Electric
bills have averaged about $115 per month in the 4 summer months, and $70
per month in the other eight months. It has achieved the following
