2008 Best Detached Building
The owner calls this “The
Hollow”. It is a detached entertainment structure that captures the
imagination of a childhood storybook with its old world charm and unique
Tudor style. The most defining element of “The Hollow” is its roof.
Multiple layers of cedar shingles were built up to create the appearance
of a thatched roof. Another strong design element was the use of
traditional natural material to re-create a truly historic look. It is
difficult to say whether “The Hollow” is an old building with a new
look, or a new building with an old look.
