2013 Whole House Remodel under $250,000
This
1953 bungalow was purchased as an investment property. As the project
began, it became apparent that extensive concealed damage would have to
be repaired. The project was changed from minimal updating to a
full-scale remodel and the budget was set at $125K. The goal was to
increase the usable living space without adding square footage, and to
maintain the mid-century character of the home. These goals were
accomplished by re-purposing the enclosed porch as a family room,
converting the garage into a studio, opening interior walls, and using
either period authentic or replica materials.
