This home, set on a
picturesque property, was built in the 1800’s. Their goal was to
preserve the historical charm of the home while completely renovating
the existing structure by adding a gourmet kitchen, family room addition
and reconstructing the second floor to create a master suite, bathrooms
and a laundry room. Due to the age of the home, and many previous
remodeling attempts over the years, the entire house, with the exception
of 2 upstairs bedrooms and 2 walls in the existing family room were
completely gutted. The entire house was tarped each night to protect the
interior from the elements. A 330 sq. ft. addition was added to the rear
of the house for a new family room addition. A wall of windows and
French doors were added in the family room to allow views of the
outdoors. A steel beam was engineered into the second floor structure to
support par of a new 600 square foot master suite addition. The existing
layers of various types of siding were removed to allow for clapboard
siding to be installed, thus restoring the house to its original
appearance.
