Light struggles to reach
the inner spaces of townhouses in NYC. This house achieves its calm
natural lit charm by treating each floor as a single space with
bathrooms, mechanical spaces and elevator rising up through a central
core. This core is clad in veneer from a single English oak and was
built in Switzerland during the project’s eight month schedule.
The master bath vanity is a single 3000-pound block of stone, craned
into place. Control of the lights is by a single button in each room
with lights that change color temperature automatically by time of day.
