This project was to
convert a farm outbuilding originally constructed as a chicken coop,
into an Architect’s office and studio for the current owner of this
working farm. The challenge was to retain the integrity of the barnyard
from the exterior while creating a light filled modern office. The first
order of business was to restore the structural integrity of the
building. The interior includes a new floor, built-in bookcases, wiring
for computer hookups for four work stations, conference area, and a
clerestoried space. The exterior was clad with barn siding and fit with
double hung and clerestory windows which are grouped to create a rhythm
which relates well to the other barn buildings on the site.
