The
original kitchen was poorly laid out and was isolated from the adjacent
room. The cabinets/finishes did not blend well with the architecture of
the 1908 craftsman house. There was no heat source in the kitchen so it
was always cold. The adjacent room was an odd space because it really
didn’t have a purpose. The clients wanted to create a larger kitchen
with a better layout as well as a place for the kids and guests to hang
out for homework and entertaining. The design was to remove the wall
that separated the two rooms and create one large kitchen.
After several big
challenges we were able to create a beautiful spacious, warm and
inviting kitchen that provides room for the family and friends to hang
out together. The cabinets, materials and details reflect the
architectural style of the house while providing modern day
conveniences. The project was completed in the fall and the clients
were very excited to be hosting Thanksgiving and with warm feet while
cooking.
