With a
team approach, The Porch Company and Site Works were able to create an
integrated multi-functioning backyard with a fireplace, grill and pool
area. The homeowner had been plagued with a poorly draining yard and
beds that washed out onto the pool deck in heavy rains. The existing
retaining walls and sidewalks were in bad repair. By adding drainage,
building new retaining walls, and covering the upper yard and existing
pool deck with travertine pavers, the client gained usable space and was
able to integrate several different elements in their yard. The new
pavilion near the pool offers an attractive respite from the heat.
Design elements from the new pavilion were added to the existing porches
and arbor to help tie the entire project together. A new custom-made
cypress gate incorporated the design elements of the pierced brick on
the adjoining carport wall. This project not only addressed nagging
maintenance issues but created a glorious backyard setting that
integrates old and new features seamlessly.
