The
layout of the clients’ existing living area, dining and kitchen was
gloomy, cramped and lacked the efficiency, flow of movement and
connection to the yard/outdoors that they desired. Walls were removed
and reconfigured to accommodate the new great room effect for better
flow and small partition walls and niches were used to give each space
some sense of boundary. The kitchen was redesigned according to the
family’s needs and aesthetic concerns. Designing the space so that one
could look out towards the backyard from anywhere in the public areas,
provided a greater sense of connection to the outdoors.
