Lacking a distinctive
style, the owners of this 1960’s home desired a façade update that would
make a bold and elegant statement. The architect chose a Tudor style
because of its dynamic beauty befitting of the site and also it’s
retrofit capability allowing architectural elements to be adapted to the
existing elevation and roof. This project was more about solving an
aesthetic issue than fixing function. However, the addition of the
arched stone entry gable and circular brick landing provided a nice
connection to the driveway permitting easy passenger drop-off and
pick-up. Also, the larger windows granted improved natural lighting and
ventilation. Up-lighting the various architectural elements no only
provides security for the homeowner but a dramatic evening presentation
as well.
