2000 Best Whole House Remodel under $200,000

This house has a beautiful view to the north of M. St. Helens, the Kalama Mountains and a portion of the City of Vancouver. The original design totally ignored the view. The clients belong to a wine club, enjoy gourmet cooking and entertain large groups. It was decided to completely redesign the house around the kitchen and to take maximum advantage of the view. All of the interior walls in the east wind of the house were removed and the ceiling in the new kitchen area was vaulted. The north wall of the new kitchen was completely refreamed to install three large picture windows with two gable windows above them. In addition, a new wine/pantry room was added off the dining area in the kitchen.
