Having moved from the
East Coast to a home by the sea in Half Moon Bay, California, this
couple wanted to transform their surroundings into a nautical theme. The
beadboard wainscot paneling, also used for the cabinet doors, provide a
connection to the beach cottages they remembered in their earlier lives.
A ship lapped wooden ceiling provides a warm period look. Starfish made
of stainless steel were used as upper cabinet doorknobs. The finishing
touch was a stainless steel backsplash with specialty deco pieces that
had such things as waves, seashells and fish. Now that the work has been
completed, everyone in the family agrees that everyday…life is a beach.
