A dismantled and
forgotten church became the perfect structure for our client’s desired
art studio. It was a unique and historic space providing many
challenges, some of which included meticulously sorting through hundreds
of components to identify and organize for restoration. No blueprints
were available; so all reconstruction was done using old photographs.
The original timber frame structure had to be reconstructed with enough
precision to ensure that once assembled, the original interior
wainscoting and window trim would realign. The rescuing of this
forgotten artifact engendered a sense of pride and accomplishment for
the homeowner and contractor alike.
