2011 Whole House Remodel $250K - $500K - Team Award

Originally built in 1973, this home had modern bones but lacked refinement. The major challenge for both the architect and builder was taking this small house; preserving its modest sensibility and making it feel grander than it was, then coming back almost surgically and giving it the craft and elegance it never had. The key sustainability goal for the project was to keep the home’s footprint small, while embracing the beauty and solitude of the site’s landscape. The client’s dreams were achieved with only 300 sq. ft. of space added to the original structure.
