Having lost their original home to a wildfire, making their new home fire resistant was a critical goal for this remodel. A second goal was to upgrade all interior finishes. The original plan was to keep the existing floor plan with some minor modifications to interior walls. Part way into the remodel, the clients’ daughter suggested that her parents should open up the living room, dining room and kitchen to create an elegant “grand room” with cathedral ceilings and filled with natural light. This changed the scope of the remodel substantially in mid-stream. The end result was well worth the changes in scope, budget and timeline.
