The homeowners’ cave-like
kitchen was positioned in the dark at the center of the home, blocking
rooms from each other. The kitchen was relocated, and multiple bearing
walls were removed to create an open first floor flooded with natural
light and ready for entertaining.
A working pantry conveniently connects to the kitchen with a 5-foot-wide
double pocket door. A spiral stair directly connects the kitchen to the
bedroom, shortening the path for breakfast. Bright colors and a
consistent floor tie all the spaces together, making for very happy
homeowners.
