Blending modern and classic elements, along with cheerful pops of
goldenrod, this bright open kitchen holds timeless appeal. The client
had been waiting patiently for the opportune moment in her family’s
financial planning to remodel. She had saved favorite magazine clippings
and photos for years, had a very definite idea of what she wanted, and
was enthusiastic about participating in the design process.
		  A
wall was removed to make the dining room and kitchen one open space,
vastly increasing the natural light and openness of the space. Pops of
color, including goldenrod fabric on the island stools and window
treatments, add definition and liveliness to the space. The large island
was painted in dove gray, an imaginative choice for a neutral that was
selected for its ability to work with both warm and cool colors. A
glittering expanse of tile on the back wall makes an impressive visual
statement in this bright, welcoming kitchen, ideally suited for festive
		gatherings.
